League rules
- Team entry fee: 10 € per team, paid once. It puts your team in the league table and in the running for the prizes. You can join at any point in the season; you simply start on zero.
- Entry per quiz: 4 € per person, every night, for everyone. Pay ahead by Revolut before the quiz day and it is 10% off.
- Teams are up to 6 people. Over six costs points off that night’s score: the 7th player −3, the 8th −2 more, then −1 for each extra (so 8 people = −5, 9 = −6).
- At least two registered players must be at the table for your team to be playing that night. One alone can join another table as an individual.
- A team must play at least 3 of the 5 quizzes or it is out of the league. A missed night scores 0.
- A league team can take in any individual who signs up, for any quiz. They pay the same 4 € as everyone else.
- Individuals and drop-in teams can play every night and win the night’s bar prize, but are not eligible for the league prize money.
- The league table is your total quiz score: the points your team scores each night add up across the season. All five quizzes count.
- Ties in the final table are broken by a tie-break question at the final.
- Prizes: 100 € to the champions, 50 € for second, a gift from the bar for third, handed out at the final on 15 December. The night’s winning team, league or not, also gets something from the bar.
- The team name is fixed once registered. Phones away except in the phone rounds. The quizmaster’s decision is final, especially when he is wrong.
Questions people ask
Do we have to come to all five quizzes?
No, but every night counts and a missed night scores 0, so the teams that show up tend to win. Round 0 is not scored.
What does the 10 € actually get us?
A place in the league table and the right to the 100 € / 50 € / bar-gift prizes. It is per team, paid once, and does not cover entry on the night.
We are seven people. Can we still play as one team?
Yes, but it costs you: 3 points off that night for the 7th player, 2 more for the 8th, then 1 for each extra. Or split into two teams and only one of them is in the league.
What if we can only make three of the five nights?
Three is the minimum to stay in the league. The two you miss score 0, so you will need very good nights on the other three.
What do we pay on a quiz night?
4 € per person at the door, same for everyone. Pay ahead by Revolut before the quiz day and it is 10% off, so 3.60 € per person.
A friend wants to join our team for one night. What do they pay?
The same 4 € as everyone else. Your team’s points still count as long as at least two of your registered players are at the table.
Can we join the league after Round 0?
Yes, at any quiz during the season. Pay the 10 € and you are in the table from that night; you start on zero, so the earlier the better.
I don’t have a team.
Come anyway. Sign up solo, pay your 4 €, and we will sit you with people. Solo players who click on Round 0 can register as a league team together.
What if a drop-in team wins the night?
They take the bar prize for the night. The league table only counts league teams, so your score that night still adds up the same.
Can we change our team name halfway?
No. The name is what is registered; it is how we track your points. Pick a good one.
Where and when?
